| Markus Kern, the founder of Coffee-Nation,
uncovers the secrets of making the perfect coffee and espresso. It is so
easy if you simply follow the '5 Golden Rules". |
|
| 1st rule: Water |
Fresh water from the tap is very
important because it contains of 'floating minerals'. Don not use water
from a water dispenser or old water which has been filled into the machine
hours ago. Always a good idea is to use a water filtration system, i.e.
jugs or water filters from Brita Brand. |
| 2st rule: fresh ground beans |
Always use fresh ground coffee. Once the coffee
beans are grinded, the taste will constantly disappear. That's why connoisseurs
usually are owner of a little grinder. Store the coffee beans in a dry and
dark place. Do not put it into the refridgerator or freezer - because the
humidity can cause damage to the grinder (metall!). |
| 3rd rule: coffee brewing method |
Espresso
coffee is the most stomach friendly coffee specialty. Although the taste
is more vibrant it contains less caffein and less irritants. Coffee from
the BODUM caffétiere gives the most aromatic coffee (but ... more
than average irritants). The normal drip coffee is a good alternative.
|
| 4th rule: the coffee itself |
Forget the fairy tale about Robusta
and Arabica beans and that only Arabica's provide real good coffee. One
of the most famous coffee comes from India and is ... Robusta! By the way:
it is higher priced than some arabica coffees. If you love coffee always
look for quality brands. Usually here you are informed about the freshness,
way of roasting and where the coffee comes from. Keep in mind: good coffee
is always fresh coffee! |
| 5th rule: moment |
You won't enjoy a single coffee under stress
or if you have to rush. So enjoy coffee with passion and take a little break.
If you are in a hurry: take water and a coffee later. |
